I’m writing to you from the United Astrology Conference in Chicago, where more than 1,400 astrologers have gathered to talk astrology.
Interestingly, I have not felt the desire to 'network'. Instead, connections have happened serendipitously — a few deep, heartfelt conversations that went somewhere real. And as I look at the astrology of the week ahead, that feels fitting.
Three significant shifts happen on Thursday, September 10:
- Venus enters Scorpio,
- Mercury enters Libra, and
- Uranus stations retrograde in Gemini.
Together, they bring me back to one of those pairs of profound truths: honesty and kindness.
What happens when telling the truth risks disturbing the peace? And what happens when preserving the peace requires us not to say what is true?
This week may ask us to hold both.
Venus enters Scorpio: Get honest
Venus leaves Libra and enters Scorpio, shifting our attention from holding paradox and maintaining harmony toward discovering what is under the calm surface. Scorpio doesn’t shy away from what is intimate, uncomfortable or difficult to name — love, sex, money, jealousy, power, dependency, desire, and the things we have quietly agreed not to talk about.
Is there an honest conversation waiting to happen in one of your relationships? Or perhaps the conversation is with yourself. What have you papered over because confronting it felt too disruptive?
Mercury enters Libra: Let your words remain kind
On the same day, Mercury leaves Virgo and enters Libra, shifting the way we perceive and communicate toward relationship, balance and consideration of another person’s point of view.
And that matters.
Because if Venus in Scorpio asks us to tell the truth, Mercury in Libra reminds us that how we tell it matters too.
Honesty does not require brutality. Kindness does not require dishonesty.
Perhaps the work is finding language spacious enough to hold both.
Uranus stations retrograde: Look again
Uranus asks us to discover who we are outside of what we have been societally, familially and culturally conditioned to believe about ourselves.
Its central question is: How important is it to be true to yourself? And perhaps the harder one: What price have you been paying when you aren’t?
Where this plays out depends partly on where Gemini falls in your birth chart. As Uranus stations retrograde, we get another look at the last few months, reconsider the interruptions or unexpected turns of events have confronted us with questions about being true to ourselves. Maybe you responded differently than you might have expected to a situation. Or maybe you wish you had.
Retrogrades give us another pass. Another opportunity to ask:
If this question, situation or circumstance comes around again, do I want to respond the same way?
I made a 22-minute video about Uranus and this deeper question of what it means to become more fully yourself. You can watch it here.
What this week asks of us
Venus in Scorpio: Get honest.
Mercury in Libra: Let your words remain kind.
Uranus retrograde: Look again.
Sometimes we already know something needs to change. We simply need another chance to choose differently.
With love,
Meghna
P.S. That question — what wants to change, and what might become possible if we choose differently — is also at the heart of Vision to Form, the small experiential group I’m forming for late September/early October. If you’d like to join the interest list, just reply “Vision to Form.”
